Africa is the second largest of all the continents with a surface area of 30,000,000 sq. km. It is not unusual for one to think in terms of hunger, starvation, wars, drought, and all sorts of medical ailments including HIV/Aids, whenever the name Africa is mentioned. Just as every legal currency must have two sides, there is another side to Africa's story and that is to do with the hand of God moving on the people of Africa.

Africa is a continent turning to God. The center of gravity of Christianity moved away from the West in the early 1970’s, and it is said to have settled in Africa, Eurasia and Asia. The Church of God of Prophecy first entered the continent of Africa with the planting of the first church in Freetown, Sierra Leone, in 1934. Since that humble beginning, the work has grown to another thirty-four nations (sixteen English, sixteen French and two Portuguese); from the Gambia, West Africa, to Addis Ababa, East Africa, from Cairo in Egypt to the Cape in South Africa.

The Church of God of Prophecy is currently experiencing unprecedented growth in terms of new converts coming to Christ, membership, new churches organized, and new field work started. Continentally, a membership of over five hundred thousand covenanted members by the General Assembly of 2008.
